New Energy to Labour Welfare

Shri Shibu Baby John took charge as the Minister of Labour on 18th May 2011. He is the son of late Baby John, one of the doyens of Kerala politics during yesteryears. The engineer turned politician won the assembly elections from Chavara constituency for the second time. Treading the path of his father who lived and longed for the poor people, Shibu Baby John too carved out a unique place in the hearts of thousands living across the coastal belt of Chavara -Karunagappally region.

Shri Shibu Baby John is the ex-officio chairman of Chiak. After assuming charge as Minister for Labour he reviewed the implementation of RSBY-CHIS programme. On perusal of reports, he insisted the need for extending the CHIS PLUS scheme implemented by State Government to more people adding a few more features under the scheme.

Some unauthorized registrations were found in the lists of new registrants. Those are cancelled. The cancelled registrants are requested to return the Registration Slip to the concerned Akshaya Centre. The listed registrants are not eligible to turn up for photo sessions and obtain Smart Cards.

Tender Evaluation Committe Recommended to Award The Insurence Contract for the period from 2012-13 for 3 years to M/s United India Insurance Company Ltd. The Tender Process came to an end with the decision of TEC. Govt of kerala will issue their orders with in a few days.The Premium per Family Quoted by United India Insurance Company is Rs.1274/-. The United India Insurance Company is the Insurance  partner of RSBY CHIS scheme in Kerala for the last 3 years.

RSBY CHIS Scheme Implementation status report

Suspending and delisting Empanelled Hospitals
The empanelled hospitals which are offering RSBY treatment may be suspended or
de-listed on account of any improper practices related to the service. The RSBY CHIS
patient may verify the position of a hospital before he/she being admitted for treatment.Suspension or delisting of an empanelled hospital is based on the advisory for hospital surveillance issued by Government of India.
